Age 73, of Mattawan formerly of Steuben died at the home of her daughter on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Linda was born on July 3, 1944 in Detroit, the daughter of Edward and Rosena (Nalette) Farr. She married Clarence “Clem” Salter on November 15, 1963 and in 1977 they moved to Steuben when they purchased Sportsman’s Headquarters grocery store. Linda enjoyed crocheting, working with ceramics, playing bingo and shopping. Family was most important to her and she made sure that Christmas was special for her children and grandchildren. Her family would describe her as a strong and independent woman who was set in her ways.

Members of her family include her children: Eva Marie Ballard (David VanderBilt), Brian Dewey Salter, Sharon Anne Stutz (Joseph Douglas) Debra Lynn (Brock Alan) Lobsinger, Denise Rose Wadle (Jody Lee Wadle) and Linda Marie (Justin Lee) Rodriquez. Other members of her family include her 14 grandchildren: Nickolas, Ashley, Matthew, Brian Jr., Kassidy, Nichole, Sagan, Kaleb, Cameron, Bianca, Katelyn, Desaray, Paige, Hayley and Jaycob; many great grandchildren; and her sister, Darlene Ross. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Clem Salter; 2 grandchildren: Stephen Paul Ballard Jr. and Isiah Clarence Salter; a brother, Earl Farr and a sister, Shirley Fitch.

Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Burial of cremated remains will be in Fairview Cemetery in Manistique.
