Surrounded by her loving family, Leslie Elmira Cartwright, 69, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 20, 2017, at her daughter’s residence. She was born in Quincy, IL, February 10, 1948 daughter of the late Benjamin and Lucille (Nee: Patterson) Bryson.

Leslie grew up in South Beloit, IL, and moved to Racine in 1969. On February 28, 1972, she was united in marriage to Elmer Cartwright and this union was blessed with four daughters. Elmer passed away in May of 2004. Leslie was a member of Betterway Ministries. She loved to play BINGO but above all she treasured the time she spent with family. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her daughters, Belinda Bryson of Indianapolis, IN, Dionne (Daniel) Villarreal, Sonja Cartwright, Angela Cartwright all of Racine; 10 grandchildren, Jermaine, Simone, Montel, Leyona, Lajuan, Monique, Kya, DeAndre, Thomas, Deontae, and Marshawn; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Arthur Bryson of Des Moines, IA; brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, Samuel Cartwright, Emma Jean (Rex) Police; special friend, Marilyn Davis and family; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer and Thomas Bryson, and a sister, Grace McKnight.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Jesus Alive Ministries, 3011 Erie St, with Pastor LeRoy Shanks officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:00 A.M. Following the burial a repast will be held at Racine Assembly of God, 1325 Airline Rd, Mt. Pleasant, 53406

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staffs at DaVita Dialysis, Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital ICU and Cardiovascular Depts and Aurora Home Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
