Obituary
Lee Andrew Larson, Westland, MI, formerly of Kalamazoo, MI, died October 28, 2025. Born on Valentine's Day 1949 in Alma, MI, to Albert Larson and M. Ione (Johnson) Larson, Lee attended Alma High School and Michigan Technological University. On September 30, 1989, he married Pamela Weaver, who survives. Lee began his career as a builder in the Kalamazoo area and constructed an entirely passive solar home, which he built by hand, and began his interest in energy conservation. His work in the building arena expanded into the civil service area in zoning, inspecting, and ultimately planning. He retired as a building inspector from the City of Kalamazoo in 2012 and always enjoyed helping people through their projects. Lee served 6 years on the Oshtemo Planning Commission, becoming a Certified Citizen Planner during that time, delving deeper into planning and community development. In 2012, Lee ran for election as an Oshtemo Township Trustee (after being appointed to fill a vacancy) and received the highest number of votes, serving until he moved to Metro Detroit in 2015 to be near his sisters. He served on his HOA Board of Directors in Westland and volunteered for the Holliday Nature Preserve Association and Wayne County Parks. Lee and Pam were charter members of the Kalamazoo chapter of Wild Ones, and Lee served as their first treasurer. Together, they were active in many local nature/environmental organizations, and they maintained their property as a Monarch Waystation and an NWF Certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat, restoring their four acres to native plants. After moving to Westland, they did the same at their new home. Lee loved golf, road trips, and sightseeing. He is survived by his wife Pam, daughter Jessica Larson (Chad Hendrickson) of Franklin, TN and their children, Elise and Marshall, son Timothy Larson of Twin Lake, MI, brother Terry (Karen) Larson of Rogers City, MI, sisters Lois Larson of Livonia, MI and LaVon Larson of Oak Park, MI, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Michigan Humane Society are suggested: 900 N. Newburgh Rd., Westland, MI 48185.
