Lawrence "Larry" Truax Jr.

Larry was born October 17, 1954 in Kalamazoo, MI to Lawrence "Curly" and Donna (Brown) Truax. He died peacefully at home with family by his side on December 18, 2019 in Martin, MI. Larry served in the US Army for 3 years and worked for GM for 30 years before he retired in 2008. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Denise (VanderPloeg) Truax and 4 children Alexandria (Regis) Vorva of Kalamazoo, Courtney (Bret) McGlathery of Oklahoma City, OK; Cy (Rhonda) Truax of Stanwood, Hillary (Kevin) Hall of Kalamazoo, several grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Siblings Lorraine (Rick) Davis, Samuel (Nancy) Truax, Cecelia (Mike) Theirjung, Cheryle (Ralph) Williams, Kathy Shoemaker, Robert (Dawn) Truax, brother-in-law Gregorio Lopez, mother-in-law Nancy VanderPloeg, sister-in-law Darcia (John) Artz, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Diann Lopez and Sarah Brooks, a brother Jack Truax, father-in-law Hank VanderPloeg and brother-in-law Rick VanderPloeg. A celebration of life will be held at the Gun River Conservation Club in Plainwell, MI on March 15, 2020 at 2pm.
