Lacey "Steve" Hanna age 64 of Traverse City, passed away at Grand Traverse Pavilions rehab center under the care of Hospice of Michigan, on July 8, 2018. Steve was born on May 30, 1954 in Traverse City to Ralph and Cynthia (Stephan) Hanna. Steve graduated in 1973 from Traverse City Central High where he excelled in athletics.

He married the love of his life, Kathryn Potts (Lucas) on October 18, 1986. Steve co-owned Northern Michigan Four Wheel Drive Center with Paul Fahey and worked at Grand Traverse Auto until he was disabled by Parkinson's Disease in 1996. Known to many as the “Jeepman” He enjoyed building custom Jeeps, racing Jeeps and 4-wheeling. In 1982 Steve and Kathy were each regional class champions of East Coast 4WD association. He took up mud racing in 1988 where he also excelled. Racing at such venues as the Pontiac Silverdome, The Indiana Hoosier Dome and countless others. He built a hand-crafted log home that was always Steve and Kathy’s dream along with his dad, and Charlie Stratton, and the help of many, many friends. Steve was a member of the Great Lakes 4WD Association and many other 4-wheeling organizations.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Bryan (Dawn) Potts; parents, Ralph and Cynthia; sister, Sherri (Rick) Lark; four grandchildren, Preston, Emily, Kyle, and Lacey (Kine); sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Don) Broderick; several nieces; nephews, dear friends Jon and Wendy Kine, and his beloved cats.

He was preceded in death by his brother in law, Ray Lucas, His Father and Mother in Law Ray and Viola Lucas, and his grandparents.

The Family would like to thank Munson Medical Center, The Grand Traverse Pavilions, and Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care of Steve. They would also like to thank life time friends, Kathy Stoddard and Wendy Kine for all their special help.

Per Steve’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral, however a celebration of life will be held 2pm to 4pm, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Ranch Rudolf, 6841 Brown Bridge Rd., Traverse City, MI 49686 (231)-947-9529. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kathy Hanna to help with medical expenses.
