Dr. Lubavs passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born on November 11, 1931 in Cesis, Latvia a son of Karlis and Erna (Veide) Lubavs. Konrads graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and was a well-known surgeon in Kalamazoo and the surrounding area. He was a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo. Konrads was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, CPT Konstatins Lubavs and Karlis Lubavs. He is survived by his wife, Aija; three children, Aleksandra Lubavs of London, England, Karlis (Renee) Lubavs of Sandy, UT and Arturs (Elizabeth Vogel) Lubavs of Hyattsville, MD; four grandchildren, Lija, Konrads, Raimonds and Aleksandrs Lubavs; a sister, Karmena Smith of Kalamazoo; a brother-in-law, E. John Nagelis PhD of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, July 24th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Funeral services will be held 11am on Wednesday, July 25th at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo, 118 S. Kendall Avenue with Rev. Aija Graham officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo, will follow services. Memorials may be directed to WMU Department of Military Science and Leadership via the WMU Foundation, the University of Michigan Medical School or to the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Kalamazoo.
