Kenneth Charles Mange, known as Ken, 67 years old, of Petaluma, CA died last Wednesday the 29th of April due to complications recovering from heart valve surgery. He was born the 21st of December 1952 in State College, PA to Charles and Elinor Mange. He attended Calvin College and Michigan State University where he graduated with a masters degree in exercise physiology. He loved his years coaching swimming at Calvin College and later for Northview High School in Grand Rapids, MI, and for Portage Northern High School. He was the owner of the cycling store Speed Merchants in Rockford, MI during the 80s. He continued to compete throughout his life as a cyclist and as a Masters Swimmer. Ken loved his time swimming out in California with his Salty Krakens swim club. He was a man of great faith and remained active with his church communities in Kalamazoo, MI and Petaluma, CA. Survived by his father-Charles Mange of Frankfort, MI, his two younger brothers, Dave(Rose) - Kalamazoo, MI and Jim(Ellen)- Hawaii, his wife Ellen Kelly-Mange(Petaluma, CA), and his two sons Brennan(Raleigh, NC) and Brian Mange(Los Angeles,CA). Ken is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A family celebration of life will be planned for a later date in Michigan.
