Keith Johnson

Keith Allan Johnson of Vicksburg passes away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the age of 62. Keith was born on June 19, 1954. He was the son of Donald and Jean Johnson. He was born and raised in Vicksburg and lived on Indian Lake. He attended Vicksburg Community Schools and graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1972. He loved swimming, skiing, fishing, hunting and boating. He also played basketball in school.

He met his future wife, Diane Meadows, at Cheek to Cheek. They were married on September 8, 1984. He was an avid construction worker and a member of the Local United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He worked on projects including Bronson Methodist Hospital, the Radission Plaza Hotel, and many others. He along with his late father-in-law Carl, built the house that he and Diane currently lived in and the raised their children. He was very handy and could fix just about anything. He had many side projects and helped people achieve their architectural dreams come true. He knew about cars and often fixed his own and his family’s.

Keith’s family meant a lot to him. He loved going to Uncle Walt’s peach farm and Aunt Sandy and Uncle Gordon’s berry farm. He always enjoyed talking to his cousins and thought very highly of them. Keith loved making his kids happy with his creative building talents from building snow forts in the backyard to a water slide down the side of the house. In recent years it was his grandchildren who captured his heart. He loved them very deeply. Keith took pride in spoiling them with popsicles and/or sherbet and taking them for tractor rides.

Keith is survived by his wife of 32 years, Diane; three children: Rebecca (Mark); Jennifer (Jason) and Joseph; three grandchildren: Savannah, Jordyn, and Elijah; his parents: Donald and Jean Johnson. He is preceded in death by his sister: Karen Kloss; and his beloved black lab Molly.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 11AM until the time of the service at Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the same location, with Pastor Dave Downs officiating.
