Obituary
Kathryn Swieringa, age 89, of Zeeland, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Zeeland Hospital.
Mrs. Swieringa was born in Robinson Township, MI January 26, 1919, to Louis and Henrietta (Meeuwsen) Bakker. She was a member of Overisel Reformed Church and formerly a member of Bethel Reformed Church.
Preceding her in death was her brother, Anthony, and a sister Hazel.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Gerrit; Children, Judy (Al) Hoffmann, of Holland, Myra (Len) Jackson, of Schoolcraft, Ken (Joann) Swieringa, of Zeeland, Roger (Betty) Swieringa, of Wyoming; 12 Grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Hoffmann, David (Melissa) Hoffmann, Tina (Derek) VandeSlunt, Jeff (April) Jackson, Jon (Sherry) Erickson, Travis (Heidi) Swieringa, Ryan (Melissa) Swieringa, Carla (Steve) Dickerson, Randall Swieringa, Kurt Swieringa, Alicia Swieringa, and Colleen Swieringa; 11 Great Grandchildren, Stone and Logan Hoffmann, Alex and Zach Hoffmann, Noah and Micah VandeSlunt, Sydney Swieringa, Kaleb, Sierra and Jared Swieringa, and Colten Dickerson; Brother, Lawrence (Stella) Bakker, and sister, Lois (Marvin) Mulder; In-laws, Harriet Lehnherr, LeRoy Kirkland, Harold Helder, Bernard (Ethel) Swieringa, Lester (Coral) Swieringa, and Leona Topp; Nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, 11:00 a.m, at the Mulder Chapel, Dysktra Life Story Funeral Homes, 188 W. 32nd St. Officiating will be the Dr. Rev. Scott Lokers. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, from 2-5 p.m. at Mulder Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice.
