Katherine Ortman

Katherine Amelia (Katie) has found lasting peace as her 49 year life journey ended recently in Wabash, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karlee Rose and is survived by her son, Alec; daughters Benal and Nicole. Also surviving are her mother, Grace M. Davis; father, Frederick C. Essner; brother, Fred; sister-in-law, June-Marie; husband, Aaron Morris; and extended family members and numerous friends. Katie grew up a country girl in the Ada and Cascade area, full of love for nature, and as a result was a dedicated Kent County 4H member, active in dairy goats, other small animals, horses, gardening, and the creative arts. As an MSU student she competed with the equestrian team, then continuing her love of horses throughout her life. After graduating from MSU, Katie worked in the grain industry as merchandiser for Indiana farms. Being a mother, homemaker, and supporter of Spina Bifida causes were her major focus. A service will be held in Katie's honor at a later date with interment in Whitneyville Cemetery.
