Judyth Smith

Judyth Smith, age 74, of Portage, MI passed away at home on February 1, 2017. She was born on March 6, 1942 in Kalamazoo to Gerard and Mary (Louis) Linders. Judy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A graduate of Kalamazoo Central HS, Judy was a secretary at Sutherland Paper for a number of years. She married Gary Smith in July of 1964, and soon began the next phase of her life-motherhood. The couple was blessed with three sons. Judy took pride in her loving duties as a mother and homemaker. There was always laughter in the house, along with the smells of her delicious meals and deserts. She loved gardening, flowers, and keeping a tidy house. She and Gary have been long-time members of Lakeland Reformed Church. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Linders, sister Mary-Beth Wyant and her beloved son Gregory Smith. She is survived by her husband Gary, son Jeffrey Smith, son Brian and Nicole (Haas) Smith, and her three grandsons Nathan, Tyler, and Jack. Also surviving are siblings Howard (Leatha) Linders, Don (Judy) Linders, Richard (Nancy) Linders, Marilyn (Herb) Roseboom, Karen (Bill) Kannegieter, sister-in-law Ruth Linders, and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Lakeland Reformed Church 10442 Sprinkle Rd., Vicksburg, MI 49097. A luncheon will follow after the service. Memorials can be directed to Lakeland Reformed Church.
