Joyce Swartz

Passed away Friday, December 23, 2005. She was born November 3, 1929 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Harry and Lois (Hinkle) Fairbanks and had lived in the Battle Creek area for several years, moving to Portage last year. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Battle Creek and had been employed by Sherrif-Goslin Roofing Company. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Schellenberg in 1975. She is survived by her husband, Harold Swartz, whom she married in 1977; her daughter, Holly (David) Kalhorn of Kalamazoo; her son, Curt (Penny) Schellenberg of Scotts; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Rev. Karen Tompkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be direct to the American Cancer Society.
