Joyce Stevens

Passed away at home surrounded by her family Friday, December 29, 2017. Joyce was born October 21, 1933 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late William and Irene Wesler and had lived in the Gobles area her entire life. Joyce enjoyed gardening, fishing, and golfing. Joyce and her family annually went mushroom hunting and camping in Mesick for over 50 years. She truly enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grand and great grandchildren. She had raised money for Christmas by picking grapes and cherries for many years. Surviving are her 4 children, Pam (Frank) Tibbitts, Kathy (Dutch) Doorlag, Keith (Angela) Buis and Nancy Ann Buis, all of Gobles; 4 stepchildren, Warnie (Yvonne) Stevens, Marlene (Larry) Davis, Char Phelps and Keeley Stevens; grandchildren, Bryan and Bryce Buis, Renee and Frankie Tibbitts, Jimmy (Nicole) Doorlag; step grandchildren, Julie Wekwert, Trevor Smith, Angie Davis - Clark, "Bubby" Davis Jr.; great grandchildren, Kelsy Ann Buis, Brooklyn, Maddy and Aubrey; step great grandchildren, Faith, Seth, Jada, Mila, Keygan, Wyat and Zane; a brother, Richard (Kay) Wesler; 3 sisters-in-law, Lois Wesler, Kathryn Nogle and Carol (Jim) Cooley; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Janet Buis-Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stevens; her parents; brother, William Wesler; and sister, Norma Daniels. The family will meet friends on Tuesday at the D. L. Miller Funeral Home, Gobles Chapel, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com from 5 - 8 PM where funeral services will take place Wednesday at 11 AM. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Area Agency on Aging Region 4 or Hospice of South West Michigan.
