Joyce Mitchell

Passed away on November 14, 2009 at Heartland Healthcare Center of Kalamazoo. Joyce was born on August 30, 1948 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of the late John F. and Evelyn (Wells) Myers. Joyce enjoyed playing cards, board games, bird watching and gardening. She loved to cook and was a chef at many restaurants in Kalamazoo and was the previous owner of the Village Kettle Restaurant in Vicksburg. She worked for Fabri-Kal for six years. Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Gary Mitchell. Joyce is survived by a son, Tim (Kati) Mitchell of Schoolcraft and a daughter, Julie (Josh) Tafolla of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Abby, Zach and Skyler; a brother, John "Buck" Myers of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Janet Miller (Ray Beech) of Vicksburg and Joan (Joe) Golkowski of Portage and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Chapman Memorial-Nazarene, 7520 East U Avenue in Vicksburg. Interment of cremains will be in Vicksburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
