Joshua Justin Crawford, 36 of Traverse City and formerly of Cedar, died unexpectedly Friday, July 28, 2017.

He was born on January 8, 1981 the son of Thomas William and Victoria Lynn (Mikowski) Crawford.

Josh graduated from Traverse City West High School in 2000. He previously worked for many years at Goodwill Store in numerous positions. His final position there was at the donation door, which he loved because, he able to greet customers with a smile and help them. He currently worked at Applebee’s as Host and Dishwasher. Josh again loved his job; given the opportunity to see friends and family and often giving his opinion of what were his favorite menu items.

Josh became in involved with Special Olympics in his early twenties, where he formed a huge circle of friends. He loved to play Basketball, Poly Hockey and his most favorite, Soccer. He knew that there was not an “I” in the word team and it showed whenever he played. He had a huge heart and wanted to be friends with everyone. Josh was always helping people, lending an ear, giving huge hugs, and quick I Love You’s. Many times in order to help and give to others meant he had to go without.

He enjoyed playing video games, watching movies and Wrestling, and listening to music. He was a great fan of all Detroit Sports especially the Red Wings and U of M sports. He was also an avid fan of the St Francis Boys and Girls basketball teams. He could always be found sitting a couple rows behind the team bench ready to give advice if coach needed it. If there was a game to be watched, he was. And no matter if his teams were having a good or bad season, he remained a true fan. There was always next year he would say! When he was rooting for his favorite team, he could be seen dressed in his team colors from head to toe.

Josh is survived by his parents, Tom and Vicky Crawford; Brother Zachary Crawford (Amber Therrien); sister, Emily Crawford; grandparents, David and Gerri Romzek; many amzing and loving aunts; uncles; cousins and friends far and wide. He also leaves behind his sweetheart, Madison Williams and Andrew Pullis, a young man whom he had a special place in his heart. He loved you Andrew!

Josh is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lawrence Mikowski, Chuck Klepac and Derry Williams; grandparents, Rex and Onahlee Crawford and aunt, Shari Holden.

Memorials may be directed to Josh’s family where they direct contributions to charities that they think Josh would have liked.

A celebration of his life will be held at St Francis Gymnasium, 11th Street, this Thursday, August 3rd at 4 pm. The family will greet friends starting at 3pm.

His families requests casual attire and if you want, wear your favorite team colors! Josh would love it!
