Joseph Thomas Weirick

Joseph Thomas Weirick, an unwavering force of intelligence, integrity, and generosity, passed from this life into Eternal Peace on July 23rd, at age 58. Cherished husband and best friend of Elizabeth Weirick. Beloved son of Robert and Marilyn Weirick. Loving father of Lindsay (Kevin) Tanty, David, and Mary Ann (Joseph) Popalisky. Adored step-father of Justin and Shawna Nicols. Proud grandfather of Margaret and George Tanty, and at least two future grandchildren. Treasured brother of Robert Weirick, Mary (Raymond) Simonetti, Anthony (Kate), Ronald (Annette), James, Paul (Alexandra), Anne Marie, and Catherine (Luis Bermudez) Weirick. Dear uncle of Elizabeth (Chad) Lindstrom, Nathan (Maddie) Weirick, Jaclyn, Michael and Keith Simonetti, Sophia and Samuel Weirick, Ivan, Rafael, and Xavier Bermudez Weirick, and Joseph Weirick. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his beloved grandparents Edward and Gene Weise, and Gerald and Florence Weirick.

The number of people who were influenced and inspired by Joe, or who looked to him for guidance, is the truest testament to his outstanding character. Joe’s passion in life was to be the best man that he could be; the best husband, father, step-father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He lived a life full of happiness with his friends and family, and a professional life too full of accomplishments to list. He was most proud of his involvement in the early development of Milwaukee’s River Walk, the redevelopment of the Shops of Grand Avenue starting in 2000, and the development of The Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa. Joe loved being outside; he loved hunting, fishing, boating, golf, long walks, and sitting around the fire. Inspired by his Dad, Joe had a lifelong interest in aviation. He was proud to have earned his pilot’s license and loved to fly. He excelled at every athletic activity he undertook, and was a celebrated WISAA Class B Wisconsin Boys State Basketball Champion in 1976-77 along with the rest of his Crusader teammates at Beloit Catholic High School. Joe loved a good party and believed most activities could be improved by a few beers or glass of Scotch. Joe passed away peacefully, surrounded and much loved by his family. He will be dearly missed by all who got to know him.

IF THE CHURCH PARKING LOT IS FULL: you may park in our Funeral Home parking lot - Suminski / Weiss Funeral Home, 1901 N. Farwell Avenue. The Funeral home is about 3 blocks from Holy Rosary.
