John R. Born Sr., age 78, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine, September 2, 1939, son of the late Earl and Mildred (Nee: Hanson) Born.

He proudly served in the United States Army. John was employed for many years at Twin Disc. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and golfer.

John will be dearly missed by his loving companion, Cynthia Morones; his children, Zana (Greg) Zerzanek, Penny (Gregg) DeCheck, John (Sandy) Born Jr.; his grandchildren, Michelle (T.J.) Werk, Jason (Colette) Zerzanek, Adam Born (fiancée, Brianna), Justin (Elaine) Born, Jordy Born, Hunter and Austin Born, Jacob and Joshua DeCheck; three great grandchildren, Jakobe Zerzanek, Wolf Werk, Hilde Werk; brother, Earl (Judy) Born; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph (Kathy); and sister, Mary.

The family wishes to meet with relatives and friends for visitation, Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Autistic Society or Hope Safehouse have been suggested.

John’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cindy for her unwavering love, compassion and care of their father for all these years and especially the last 3 and ½.
