John Mursch

Mursch, John B. 8/3/1962 - 3/20/2019 Formerly of Kalamazoo, MI John B. Mursch, age 56, passed away March 20, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo with his loving family at his side. Born August 3, 1962 to Robert & Janice (Shetterly) Mursch,Sr. John had a love of music and the outdoors. Fishing, golfing, shooting and playing guitar were just a few of his favorite pastimes. The annual 4th of July gatherings at their home in S.Haven & later at Guernsey Lake are fond memories for family and friends. His infectious, memorable laugh and love of his family will be truly missed! An avid reader, History and WWII books filled his bookshelves along with scaled model airplanes he built. His work career began at a young age bussing tables at Mursch's Ice Cream on Burdick Street. During high school, he worked at McDonald's, played football, wrestled & graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1980. John managed numerous Uncle Ed's Oil Shoppe locations for 14 years and later worked in the car wash industry. Most recently, he worked as a prep cook at Station 885 in Plymouth, MI. Surviving are his two children: Carson Mursch (girlfriend Hannah McNett) of Hickory Corners and Carly Mursch, of Delton; his former wife, Cindi Mursch, of Delton; brother, Reverend Dr. Robert (Ausma) Mursch, of Venice, FL; sister, Marsha (Jonathan) Mursch-Nardone of Canton, MI; niece, Stefanie (Mark) Nelson; nephew, Andrew (Karen) Mursch; 3 great-nieces & great-nephew; several cousins; close friends: Dave (Jenny) Willems, Rick (Cathy) Doonan, Nick (Sharyn) Dagher, David (Jennifer) Andersen, Dave (Dar) Taylor, Larry (Kim) Taylor, Bill (Lori) Cain, Doug (Nahla) Vardell and Barry Deming. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. & Janice Mursch; brother, David (Kay Helton) Mursch and numerous Aunts & Uncles. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and Life Celebration will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019, 4:00pm at West Kalamazoo Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John's name be directed to Hospice Care of SW MI for Rose Arbor Hospice or the Carly Mursch College Assistance Fund.
