John Field

Field, John "Ray" Portage Age 77, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. Ray was born in Highland Park, Michigan on November 12, 1940; the son of the late Norwood H. and Gladys (Livingstone) Field. He graduated from Cody High School in Detroit. On October 16, 1965, Ray was united in marriage to the former Jeanette S. Resimont, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Janel (Michael) Grella and Kirsten (Shane Jones) Field; granddaughter, Maisie Grella; sister, Beverly (Dr. Ed) Bonner and nephews, Dr. Eddie, Jr. (Mary Ellen) and Darren Bonner. Ray was a witty, fun-loving man blessed with the gift of gab; he made fast friends and was well liked, his family and faith were foremost. Ray's lifetime passion was golf, through his employment at Skidmore Sales he was able to travel to and play world-renowned golf courses. When he wasn't on the course or traveling for work he was entertaining at home with friends and family, showing pride in his heritage storytelling in his perfected Scottish brogue. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W. Milham Ave., Portage, MI 49024. Pastor Rachel Laughlin will officiate. Private interment will take place at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia. A time of visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Liturgical Arts Fund or the West Michigan Cancer Center and Institute for Blood Disorders, c/o the funeral home.
