John Henry Dickerson II

December 25, 1922 - April 6, 2016

"Our sorrows cannot mar our praise, they are the bass notes of our life's song, to God be the glory." -Andrew Murray

John died peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 6th. He lived to be 93 years old. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children Susan (John) Larned, Diane (Jeff) Vaphiadis, and John, and his grandchildren Harold (RaeAnne), Howie, Emilie, Grace, John, Esther, Jack, Libby, and Matthew.

He was a man of great faith, who lived every day knowing he was in the presence of his Lord.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy. He married his wife Dorothy in 1947, and they were happily married for 68 years. He was a teacher and Administrator in the Detroit Public Schools his entire career. He and Dorothy purchased a cottage on Torch Lake in Northern Michigan in 1954 (their personal paradise), where they were blessed to retire. John loved his family, and was the most relaxed and happy when he was spending time with them. He was intelligent, with a great sense of humor and a great smile.

Special thanks go to the incredible caregivers of Hospice of Michigan, who so lovingly took care of our Dad.

Please make memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan, 10850 E. Traverse Hwy, #1155, Traverse City, MI 49684.

"His Master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant.'" (Matthew 25:23)
