John Arnold Linden passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 83 years of age. John was born in Lansing, Michigan on August 11, in 1937 to the late Arnold and Elizabeth (Trosvig) Linden. John lived as a child in northern Michigan, often telling stories of the little house in the woods, the one-room Schoolhouse and of Buster, 'the wonder dog.' The family moved to the Lansing area where he attended Michigan State University. After graduating from MSU with his bachelor's degree in accounting, he joined the Navy and was commissioned as an officer. He was stationed in Hawaii for most of his service working within military intelligence. On leaving the Navy, John joined The Upjohn Company in the finance area, ultimately becoming the Corporate Capital Consultant. He also earned his master's degree in finance from Western Michigan University. An avid sports fan, John had season tickets for MSU football and hockey, as well as attending numerous post-season events including a Rose Bowl and several other bowl games. He also attended several Frozen Four hockey finals. John's other enthusiasms included fly fishing and golfing on two golf leagues at States Golf Course. John enjoyed traveling in his lifetime, throughout the United States and Europe including the Danube and Rhine river cruises, visiting family in the UK and Belgium as well as some time in Italy, France, Australia, and New Zealand. John was preceded in death by his parents, his son, James Linden and his former wife, Jean Linden. He is survived by wife, Christine (Van Hout) Linden; daughter, Julie (Tom) Meggison; grandsons: Nicholas Tripplehorn, Nathan Tripplehorn and Eric Tripplehorn; great-grandsons: William and Henry Tripplehorn; brother, David Linden and sister, Sylvia Cutcher. Per John's wishes, cremation has taken place at the Langeland Family Cremation Center, and arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
