Joanne Ginter

Joanne, age 63, died Monday morning, January 21, 2019 at Plainwell Pines Nursing Center, after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. Joanne, the daughter of Nathan Joseph and Patsy Lou (Richer) Lascala, was born in Kalamazoo on June 4, 1955, and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1973 graduate of Kalamazoo Hackett High School and attended Central Michigan University. She was employed at K-Mart from 1975 to 1986 and was currently employed at Fowler Interiors until April of last year as the Office Manager. Joanne's favorite time of the year was spring where she loved to plant flowers and work in her flower beds. She also liked to read and "Go Shopping" on the QVC Network. She and her husband, Jeff, really enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida. Joanne was united in marriage to the "Love of her Life," Jeffrey R. Ginter in Kalamazoo on June 13, 1981. Surviving is her husband of almost 38 years, Jeff, her son, Tim Ginter, her mother, Patsy Lascala and her siblings, Tom Lascala, Marie (Chris) Jackson, Joe (Tawnya) Lascala, Jim Lascala, Sally (Ron) Barta, Anne (Kevin) Marks and Judy (Scott) Freel; numerous nieces and nephews and by very special friends, Deb & Roger Myers, Pat Leversee and Deb Calkins, who loved and supported Joanne and Jeff throughout this long battle. Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Nathan "Babe" Lascala. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Unity Church of Kalamazoo, 1204 Whites Rd. Kalamazoo, MI. 49008, on Monday February 18th at 11 o'clock in the morning. Final interment will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Kalamazoo at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joanne's honor may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
