Joan Corey-Hoyt

Joan Arlene Corey-Hoyt, 80, of South Haven, passed away at her home on Monday, April 29. She was born December 5, 1938 to George and Lillian (Hoffman) Hooper in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo with a Bachelor's degree. She later worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for 32 years. Upon retirement, Joan returned to her hometown of South Haven, where she became very active in the community. She led a non-stop life, filled with travel, family and friends, spreading her own special sparkle and zest for life to everyone she touched. She married Donald Hoyt on June 27, 1997 in Warsaw, Indiana. They shared twenty years in marriage before his passing in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Schaaf. Joan is survived by her daughters Beth (Scott) Tameling of Allendale, Michigan and Jill (Ralph) Rueda of Flower Mound, Texas; brother George (Shirley) Hooper Sr.; stepsons Donnie (Patsy) Hoyt, Dr. Timothy (Vicki) Hoyt, stepdaughter Kathy Loyd; grandchildren Andrew, Sarah, Noah Tameling and Jonathon Rueda; step-grandchildren David Hoyt, Michael (Sarah) Hoyt, Susie (Jeremy) Price, and Jennifer Loyd; Brittney, Briauna, Briley, Joshua (Misha), Johnny, Jordan, Joseph, and Shannon Hoyt; step-great grandchildren Zachary, Kendyll, Tiffany Hoyt, Avery, Kayden Hoyt, Bryce Campbell, Richard Moore, Olivia Price, and Caleb Vincent Hoyt, step-great-great grandchildren Anastasia Moore and Gauge Donald Hoyt; as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.
