Joan Colvin

Joan Ruth aka the "Talker from Walker", age 84, of Grand Rapids, passed away in the comfort of her own home on April 25, 2017. She was born in the summer of 1932 in Kalamazoo to the late Raymond and Aileen Harbour. Joan is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 37 years, Dale Colvin in July of 1988. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Beth Ann Colvin, Michael (Agnes) Colvin, and Amy (Walt) Gutowski; grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa), Amber (Scott), Jessica (Jake), Walter III, Samantha, and Victoria; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Estelle) Harbour, and nieces and nephews. Joan will be remembered by her love of conversation, volunteering and garage sales. She lent her time at the Butterworth Hospital coffee shop with the Junior Diet Guild for 35 years. Joan also would volunteer at Gilda's Club. Gardening and taking care of flowers were another passion. Joan enjoyed her many travels with Dale and Beth. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St. E, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. A time of visitation will be available on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Reyers North Valley Chapel from 5-8 pm. Another time of visitation will be 1 hour immediately prior to the service at church.
