Jessie J. LaRoy

Jessie Jeanette LaRoy, age 96, passed to Heavenly Glory on August 24, 2017. Jessie was born December 30, 1920 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Harm and Sena (Oosterheert) Hiemstra. On September 26, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arlon Harold LaRoy. She was currently the oldest member of Twin Lakes Reformed Church, where she was very active throughout the years. Jessie loved her Lord, reading her Bible daily and had an extremely strong faith. She was a wonderful homemaker, enjoyed her flower gardens, but the most important part of her life was her family. Jessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and she will be deeply missed by all. On June 6, 2010, her husband Arlon preceded Jessie in death. Her parents; an infant son Wayne LaRoy; a grandson Michael Kellay; and all eight of her brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Esther Kellay, James (Luann) LaRoy, Donald (Debra) LaRoy, and Phyllis (Hugh) Steele; grandchildren, David Kellay, Jennifer Kellay, Tim (Kristy) LaRoy, Matt LaRoy (fiance Jackie Guerrero), Rebecca (Greg) Town, Stephen (Cheryl) LaRoy, Deborah (Jeff) Harris, James (Sarah) Steele, Aaron (Emily) LaRoy, Thomas Steele and Erin Steele; 21 great grandchildren; sister Jean (Ron) Rus; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8PM on Monday, August 28th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. A private family burial will take place in Grand Prairie Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM Tuesday, August 29th at the Westside Chapel with Pastor Ron Lugten officiating.
