Jesse Leroy Wimbley, age 78, of Bloomingdale, MI died on April 11, 2017. Born on July 2, 1938 to Jesse and Mable (Simpson) Wimberly in Shorter Alabama. At an early age he relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan to find gainful employment. Jesse met and married Barbara (Russell) Wimbley and raised his family in Kalamazoo while working at General Motors for more than 22 years. Jesse was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. He found a church home in Bible Baptist Church for almost 40 years. He served on the Mission Committee, Ushered, participated in the Men's Study Group, Jail Ministry and sang in the Choir for as long as he was able to. Jesse helped bring the Lord's word to as many people as he could, including many family and friends. Jesse was a friendly man. He enjoyed being with his friends and had many hobbies that included: fishing, bowling, playing cards, dominos and singing. Proceeded in death by Parents Mable Jackson, Amos Jackson and Jesse Wimberly; Son Devron Lucas Wimbley I, Daughter Barbara Elaine Day (Wimbley); Grandson Devron Lucas Wimbley II; four Brothers Edward Wimberly, Charles Lester Wimbley, George Wimbley and Elbert Wimberly, Sr. Jesse departed this life on April 11, 2017 peacefully with wife, children and grandchildren at his side. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife Barbara Ann Wimbley, his devoted children Kim Horton, Charles Horton, Craig (Gloria) Wimbley, Eric (Christine) Wimbley, Danielle May (Wimbley); loving grandchildren Jothenia Horton, Jacille (Kenny) Ware, Jerrell (Francois) Gomis, Jestin Wimbley, Craig Wimbley II, LaQuintas Edwards, Kate Wimbley, Seth Wimbley, Maiya Wimbley, Christon May, and Baylee Day; Siblings Dorothy (Gary) Russell of Waterford, MI; Rosetta Brown of Montgomery Al; Bernadine Jackson of Orlando, FL; David Jackson of Shorter, AL; Oblee Wimberly of Montgomery AL; Tom (Elaine) Jackson of Lansing, Ml; William (Karen) Jackson of Seattle, WA; Stanley Jackson of Los Angeles CA; Sisters in Law Carolyn (Charles) Burnett, Linda (Emeal) Thrash, Gail Patterson, Anita (Ed) Dawkins, Luther (Renee) Russell Jr, Lita Wimbley, and Josie Wimbley and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Service will be held Thursday, April 20 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bible Baptist Church, 1700 North Drake Rd. Kalamazoo, MI, 49006.
