Jeffrey Scott Bye Sr. passed away September 3rd, at his home with his family by his side. Born in Flint Michigan on October 5, 1949 to the late George and Yvonne (Thorp) Bye, Jeff attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Central HS in 1967. He then attended Flint Junior College where he became a proud member of Delta Sigma Nu fraternity. He then went on to study at Western Michigan University. He worked for the City of Flint for twenty-three years and retired as a division supervisor for the Department of Public Works in 1994. Moving to the City of Kalamazoo, he then spent seventeen years as the Field Services Manager, retiring in 2011. Jeff and Paula (Maslak) married in 1979 and were able to spend forty-one wonderful years together. They took many memorable trips with their family, including Europe, Hawaii, Florida, summers on their boat in Ludington, and their favorite spot, Cabo San Lucas Mexico. Jeff continued to enjoy his favorite pastime of fishing while enjoying a Cuban cigar! His green thumb could be attested to by the 7-foot cactus in the bay window! Along with his wife, Jeff is survived by: his sons, Jeffrey Scott (Amy) Bye II and Matthew Jordan (Mallory Davis) Bye. He was very proud of the men they have become. Papa to his beloved grandchildren, Jillian Grace Bye and Jeffrey Scott Bye III, and a third grandchild, a baby boy, due in October to Matthew and Mallory. Sisters, Bonnie (Ron) Lakies, Tammy (Scott) Gray, brothers Joel (Dawn) Bye, and James Bye. Sister-in-law Karen Maslak, brother-in-law Billy (Julie) Maslak. Also, many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Patricia Jarbeau. Jeff was also preceded in death by his in-laws Bill and Jeanne Maslak. Jeff will be greatly missed by all and remain in our hearts forever. Many thanks to Dr. Mirza and Dr. Graham for all of their care, and SW Michigan Hospice. No services are being held per Jeff's wishes. Suggested memorial contributions in Jeff's name may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
