Jeanne Leonard

Jeanne Rebecca (Olson) Leonard, 97, Huntsville, AL, Saturday, January 23 Jeanne was born February 25, 1923, in Shepherdsville, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Olson. Jeanne graduated from Ovid High School in 1940 and the University of Michigan Nursing School in 1944. She served as an instructor in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp at the University of Michigan during WWII. On October 28, 1945, Jeanne wed Douglas Leonard in Ovid, Michigan. She worked as a nurse for several years and then became a homemaker who was an active volunteer in the Red Cross and other organizations. Jeanne was also an avid gardener who loved nothing more than working in her yard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Douglas Leonard, 2000; her sister, Alverda, and her brothers, Robert and Charles Jr. Jeanne is survived by a son, David and his wife, Jayne, of Wildwood, MO, a daughter, Susan (Leonard) Scalici and her husband Tony, of DelRay Beach, FL; and four grandchildren: Matthew Leonard, Debra (Leonard) Page, Melissa Scalici-Weir, and Angela Scalici-Young. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service is planned at a future date in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
