Loving wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, exchanged time for eternity on March 25, 2019 surrounded by family. Jeanette was born on October 4, 1924 in Kalamazoo, MI, the seventh child of Jacob and Lyda Baas. She leaves behind her children: Jackie VantZelfde, Larry (Mary) Bowman and Terri Culver (Steve Norris). Her grandchildren: Scott (Nora) VantZelfde, Tim (Stephanie) VantZelfde, and Joe (Amanda) Culver. Great grandchildren: Tyler (Trina), Kelsey, Emily, Jacob, Jonathan, Levi, and Elliana VantZelfde; Ashley, Amanda, Nicholas, Jessica, Kaylee, and Courtney VantZelfde; Evangeline Culver; and a great- great grandchild we hope to welcome in August. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin, her parents, sisters: Nellie, Hattie, Sadie and Betty, brothers: John and Peter, a son-in-law, Dennis VantZelfde, and several nieces and nephews. Jeanette had the sweetest personality She had a smile and kind words for everyone. She loved her family deeply and being a grandma was one of her greatest blessings. After World War II she met the love of her life Calvin Bowman (deceased) just out of the Army while working at KVP. They were married six months later on July 18,1946. Jeanette loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and Calvin had many fond memories of camping with the grandchildren on Lake Michigan. While living in Kalamazoo, she attended Calvary Bible Church with special friend, MaryAnne Ampersee. She deeply loved all of the old hymns. Services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday, March 28 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
