Jean Griffioen

Griffioen, Jean Louise 9/23/1926 - 10/13/2022 Portage Jean Louise Griffioen went to be with Jesus in the evening of October 13, 2022. Jean was born September 23, 1926 in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was the daughter of Case and Hattie Vanderlay and has been a resident of Kalamazoo and Portage all her life. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1944. She was employed by American National Bank (Fifth Third Bank) for several years. Jean attended Grace Baptist Church, and later in life, she became a member of 12th St Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents Case and Hattie Vanderlay, her sons John Griffioen and David Griffioen, as well as brothers-in-law Henry and Chris and sisters-in-law Jean and Lil. She was also preceded in death by grandson-in-law Eric Ulmer. She is survived by daughters-in-law Beverly Griffioen and Kathy Griffioen, 6 grandchildren Jim (Sara Woodward) Griffioen, Jessica Griffioen, Rob (Bridget) Griffioen, Mark (Emily) Griffioen, Peter (Lauren) Griffioen, and Michael (Dusty Jepkema) Griffioen and 11 great-grandchildren Evan, Abigail, Sebastian, Avery, Boone, Kaia, Metta, Addie, Evie, Gram, and Penny. A service will be held Saturday October 22, 2022 at 12th St Baptist Church (3911 S 12th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009). Service will begin at 11am with a light luncheon after.
