Jean Burke (Salter)

Jean M. Burke (nee Salter) passed away at age 96 on January 25th, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan. Jean was born on August 16th, 1922 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She graduated from Brown's Business School in Milwaukee and later attended Syracuse University. Throughout her long life, Jean enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John T. Burke, parents Millard and Isabel Salter, brother Bruce Salter and sister Betty Koch. Surviving are her two children Dr. John Burke (Michele), and Dr. Susan Burke (Dr. Kenneth Morrison), 5 grandchildren, John(Heidi), Richard (Laura), Sarah(David), Robin, James, and 7 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Jean's physician Dr. Babar Ahmad, her caregivers Joanne Horton, Lucy Hedley, R.N., and Carolyn Yunker for the outstanding and loving care they provided to Jean during the last few years of her life. The family has planned a private memorial service to be held in Waukesha, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donation may be made in her honor to Haworth College of Business, Dept. of Accountancy, Western Michigan University, 600 Marion Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008 or University United Methodist Church, 1120 S.
