Janie R. Hunter

Janie R. Hunter, age 83, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Fayette, MS, May 17, 1934, daughter of the late James and Allene (Nee: Jackson) Hunter and had been a Racine resident since 1956.

In her early years she was employed by AMC. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Luke’s Baptist Church. She enjoyed puzzle books, but more than anything she cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Jim Woodley, Lindell (Shandra) Rushing, Ronnie Hunter, Annie Williams, Verlissa Hunter; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her children, Bennie Hunter, Willie James Jones, Larry Hunter, Tracy Hunter; one brother; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church, 1326 State Street, with Rev. Joseph Pipes officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M.
