Janet St. John

Janet W. St. John, age 82, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Janet was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Cecil N. and Izola (Dutton) Walter. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, class of 1953 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. Jan was an avid gardener and was a member of the Kalamazoo Garden Council and the Landscapers Garden Club #346. She was awarded "best in state" for her garden by the Federated Garden Clubs of Michigan ("The World Laughs in Flowers"). Jan was also an extensive traveler, visiting many places throughout the globe with her husband and grandchildren. She enjoyed painting watercolors and was a dog lover to the end. Jan's family always came first in her life and her memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind. On June 30, 1957, she was united in marriage to Richard Y. St. John who survives. Also surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Michele) St. John and Sharyl St. John and grandchildren, Haven and Aubrie Bassett. Janet was preceded in death by her son, Robert St. John. A private family committal service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to SPCA of Southwest Michigan or a , c/o the funeral home.
