Janet Marie Voss

Voss, Janet Marie 9/30/1932 - 10/29/2014 Kentwood, MI Janet Marie Voss (Latendresse) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Oct 29, 2014. Jan was born in Minneapolis, MN in 1932 and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph convent at the age of 16. She began teaching a year later, eventually earning a masters degree in education from Indiana State University. She left the convent after 20 years, married, raised two children, and remained active in the church. Jan worked on early breast cancer clinical trials and later served as the Director of Social Justice for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. After retiring, she remained active in the St. Mary Magdalene community and at her residence, Breton Terrace retirement community. She is survived by her husband Joseph, son Jon (Erin Potts), son Joe (Jennifer Armstrong), grandchildren Ian and Bernard Voss-Potts and Joseph Voss-Armstrong, sisters Noella Bosler and Billie Sibbing. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church located at 1213 52nd St. SE, Kentwood MI 49508. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
