Janet Ellstrom

Janet Ellstrom, age 86, of Kalamazoo, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 20th. She was born on April 5, 1931 in DeKalb, IL, and was raised by her Guardians Kathryn and Clendis Mayfield of Sterling, IL. Janet married Richard Herbert Ellstrom from Moline, IL, on April 10, 1952. After 50 years serving others, she retired as a registered nurse working in her profession. She will forever be remembered for her love and selfless devotion to her family and friends. Her joy in life was to care for others. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Luther Church, Kalamazoo, MI. She was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary, Unit 6, located at V.F.W. Post 1527, Kalamazoo. Survivors include husband Richard Ellstrom, son Jon (Cindi) Ellstrom , East Moline, IL, daughter LuAnn Ellstrom Woodhouse, Kalamazoo, MI, son Richard Ray (Carly) Ellstrom, Portage, MI; four grandchildren, Jared (Amy) Woodhouse, Rochester, NY, Taylor Rae Ellstrom, Kalamazoo, MI, Tera (Josh) Bender, East Moline, IL, Erica (Ben) Hoskins, East Moline, IL; six great grandchildren, Brenna, Nolan and Evan Hoskins and Nora, Allison and Olivia Bender. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and two brothers. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 23rd, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 504 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, MI, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of S.W. Michigan, Kalamazoo, MI. Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home
