Jane Jacqueline Nahikian, 93, of Allegan, MI passed away Monday, January 21, 2019 at Briarwood Assisted Living. Born May 25, 1925 in Gladwin, MI, she was the daughter of the late Harold Leith Calkins and Mildred Beatrice (MacArthur) Calkins and was the wife of the late William Sarkis Nahikian. Mrs. Nahikian attended Western Michigan University and graduated from Bronson School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was a dedicated member of First Congregational Church in Allegan for over sixty-one years where she truly enjoyed participating in the Women's Fellowship group. Mrs. Nahikian spent much of her free time sewing, cooking and baking. She also looked forward to receiving the Kalamazoo Gazette so she could complete the crossword puzzle and loved a good game of Scrabble with family. Mrs. Nahikian is survived by her five children, Ann (Scott) Miller, Sue (Leon) Belden, Sara (Larry) Tait, William (Denise) Nahikian and Mary (Randy) Hunziker; twelve grandchildren, Brian (Christine) Miller, Trevor (Tess) Belden, Richard (Megan) Cromwell, Ethan (Sarah) Belden, Brooke (Shane) Wesseldyk, Jane (Dan) Terzibashian, Hagop (Megan) Terzibashian, Will Nahikian, James Nahikian, Travis Hunziker, Joy Hunziker and Nathan Hunziker; and eleven great-grandchildren, Glory, Camden, Callum and EllaGrace Wesseldyk, Gabby, Olivia and Ivy Belden, Maia and Rylee Cromwell and Miles and Aram Belden. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Calkins, Donald Calkins, Jean Moore and Tom Calkins. A funeral service and luncheon will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 at First Congregational Church with Pastor Cory Klein officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, MI 49423; or to the First Congregational Kitchen, 323 Cutler Street, Allegan, MI 49010. Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
