Jane, age 97, passed away Wednesday morning, May 2, 2018 at Park Village Pines in Kalamazoo. She was born as Eleanor Jane Honey on April 10, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Edgar Jr. and Mary (Doyle) Honey. Jane was a 1939 graduate of Kalamazoo State High School. In 1943, she graduated from University of Michigan, where she was a member of both Wyvern and Scroll Honor Societies, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and active in many student groups. On May 31, 1943, she was united in marriage to William D. Harrelson. Jane was active in many activities, including: golf, bridge, art, history, archeology, and traveling to many different countries. She was a former Welcome Wagon representative, and volunteered at Ladies Library Association, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Kalamazoo Nature Center and Kalamazoo Medical Alliance. Jane was also a longtime active member of First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo and member of the Mary Kate Guild. Surviving are one son: Robert (Katie) Harrelson; six grandchildren; Steven (Kristen), Erik (Jessica), Jason (Lindsey), Abigail, Anne and Jane; six great-grandchildren: Shane, Liam, John, Lauren, Maia, Avril; and two nieces: Patricia (Robert) Milroy and Deborah (Richard) Boris, who provided many years of personal and loving assistance to Jane; daughter-in-law: Marjorie H. LeClaire; and several other nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding her in death were her husband, William D. Harrelson, on April 26, 2003; two sons: William A. and Michael J. Harrelson; and brother, William A. Honey. A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 16, at First Congregational Church, 345 W. Michigan Ave., where friends may visit with the family from 12:00pm until the time of service. Rev. Nathan Dannison will officiate. Private family interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Congregational Church, Ladies Library Association or Park Village Pines.
