Jane Erickson Alberta Jane Drake Erickson, usually called Jane, was born on March 24, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri to G. Bryant Drake and Alberta Stimson Drake. Jane died September 2, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jane attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska for two years before marrying Charles Erickson on June 4, 1947. She then attended the University of Chicago. Jane completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Olivet College in 1983. She lived in several states, most recently Olivet and Kalamazoo, MI. Throughout her life she was a member of Congregational Churches, later named the United Church of Christ. She sang in church choirs and later at her retirement home, The Fountains at Bronson Place, as well as in hand-bell choirs. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood. Reading, playing bridge, and walking brought joy to her days. Visiting family were high points in her life. A family cottage on Crystal Lake (Beulah, MI) was part of Jane's life from early childhood until her last visit in 2015. She was predeceased by daughter Beverly (1984) and husband, Reverend Charles O. (Chuck) Erickson (2011). Surviving are sons Mitchell (Colleen), Martin (Barbara), and Todd (Sheila) and grandchildren, Adam (Erin), Carl, Brendan (Alicia), Delaney, Keenan (Elisabeth), and Aileen. In lieu of flowers Jane would like memorial gifts to be given to the Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes or to the Nature Conservancy. A memorial service will be held at The Fountains at Bronson Place on September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
