James Shaffer

James Shaffer, age 61, of Kalamazoo, MI formerly of Melvindale passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. James was born in Detroit, MI, on August 21, 1955, the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred Shaffer. He was also preceded in passing by two sisters, Pat Miller and Evie Shaffer. Jim lived most of his years in Melvindale, MI, before relocating to the Kalamazoo area. He loved his music, concerts and spending time with friends. He enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and having camp fires. He was known for his wit and humor and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Nathaniel Shaffer; siblings, Phyllis Ritchie, Pauletta Ferguson, Sandy Shaffer-Broms, Charlene (Joe) Zavala, Michael (Joan) Shaffer, Terry (Barb) Shaffer; many nieces, nephews and great friends. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 PM. A visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
