James Pike

James Alan Pike, age 62, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Sunday December 24, 2017 at home. James was born November 4, 1955 in Kalamazoo the son of Raymond and Mildred (Switzer) Pike. He was a graduate of Hackett Catholic Central and Michigan State University. James worked as a mail carrier with the post office for the past 25 years and was a racket ball coach at the YMCA. James was a foster parent to over 32 children and enjoyed genealogy. He was also previously a volunteer firefighter with Kalamazoo Township. He was united in marriage to the former Katherin Buys who survives. Also surviving are his children, Yolanda (Roger) Chapman of Mattawan, Zachary McGill of Kalamazoo, Cassidy McGill of Cassopolis; Jason Jones (Miranda) of Allegan, Justin Buys of Homer; siblings, Ralph (Nancy) Pike of Kalamazoo, Donald (Jackie) Pike of Portage, Charles Pike of Kalamazoo, Mary Stewart of Kalamazoo, Phillip (Lynne) Pike of Portage, Judi Pike of Billings, MT, Catherine (Simon) Jones of Paw Paw; four grandchildren, Veronica, Jocelyn, Caitlynn Chapman and Brady Jones; many nieces & nephews. Friends are being received 5-8 pm Thursday December 28, 2017 at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, where services will be held 1:30 pm Friday December 29, 2017. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA.
