James A. Landsverk, age 82, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017. James was born in Watertown, WI on October 22, 1934, son of the late Arnold and Zita Landsverk.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, stationed in Germany. He graduated from Carroll College (University) with a degree in Chemistry. Most Jim’s professional career was spent at SC Johnson Wax and as a Senior Research Scientist in the “International Insecticide Division” before retiring in 2000. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, now Living Faith Lutheran Church. Jim was an avid golfer, who scored two aces in his life and loved to travel the state playing new and old courses with his golfing buddies. He loved the outdoors and nature from an early age. He and his family would spend their summers at Long Lake in north-western Wisconsin after their father who was a school teacher finished the spring semester at Watertown High School. Jim would fish for northern pike, perch, bluegills and the occasional walleye to help provide food for the family during the summer. Once older, Jim developed a fascination for birds, always having his binoculars, bird book, and pen and paper at the ready to document a new species visiting the feeders. With his analytical demeanor and outlook Jim tended to try to be a perfectionist when it came to life and most certainly with his lawn often “coaching” his children and their friends who drove on the edge of the grass as they backed down the driveway.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Kari Landsverk, Arne Landsverk, Dorothy “Deedy” (Evan) Fiery; grandchildren, Lauren and Matthew Fiery; sister, Nancy (Gerhard) Busse; brother-in-law, Robert Sands; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Sands.

Memorial services with Full Military Honors will be held at the funeral home on Friday May 12, 2017, 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Warren Williams officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, please send Memorial's to Living Faith Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Ave, Racine, WI 53405.
