James "Jamie" Lawrence Stanaszek, born October 22nd, 1961, and whom our Lord called home on December 13th, 2019, following a fight to survive a fatal illness. James was born and lived his entire life in Kalamazoo and Barry Counties. He always enjoyed his childhood memories of attending St. Mary's Elementary. His longest lasting friendships started there. James enjoyed those friends company and memories his entire life. He graduated from Comstock High School in 1979. James worked the next 20 years for Mead Consumer & Office Products where he met his wife and started a family. He was preparing to go back to school to enter their Maintenance program when that plant closed. James then worked at Georgia-Pacific before ultimately becoming a supervisor at Plymouth Packaging in Battle Creek. More than anything James loved time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and taking his family on vacation. He loved music and concerts. Whether it was Ozark Mountain Daredevils to Shinedown; James could tell you the band members names, when a song came out and its lyrics. James is preceded in death by his father, Walter Joseph Stanaszek; his mother, Georgette Jean (Darlington) Stanaszek; and aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends. He is survived by his sisters, Linda (Jeff) Geml and Jill (Jack) Brown; brother, John Stanaszek and his life partner, Rob Wedler; his children, Mary-Lynn, Jami, and Casey Stanaszek; 2 stepchildren, Lance and HattieMae Mitchell whom he raised with their mother and his wife, Lori (Case) Stanaszek; and 4 granddaughters and 3 grandsons with number 8 on the way. James made sure his children and grandchildren had many memories to keep smiles on their faces and their hearts warm. James/Jamie was a good man, great father, loving grandfather, and true friend to all that knew him. The family is planning a Celebration of Life for him at the Comstock VFW Hall, on Saturday, January 25th, 2020, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM with lunch at 1:00 PM and then 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM there will be Family Service and Appreciation. Please come by and bring happy memories to share. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to your chosen organization. Though he will be missed by us we know his light will shine on our life path for the rest of our days.
