James Koning

Koning, James Portage, Michigan James Lee Koning, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2022. Jim was born November 28, 1955 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of John and Hester (Bonselaar) Koning, who have preceded him in death. He was employed by Clarage Fan (Zurn Industries) and then moved to Alabama for several years. He returned to the Portage area in 1994 where he was employed by Ship-Pac (Ferguson) until he retired in September of 2019. Jim attended Grace Christian Reformed Church, where he was involved with the Boys Club for many years. Jim enjoyed golfing, trips with his motor home, watching car races and was an excellent bowler for many years. Jim is survived by his sister, Lu Ann (Philip) Smith; his niece, Jodi (Josh) Andrews; his nephew, Bryan (Cindy) Smith; and his great-nieces and nephew: Abigail, Greta, Ella, Mila, and Titus. The family will receive friends at a memorial service on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where the family will greet visitors an hour prior. A private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Jim's memory may be directed to Grace Christian Reformed Church.
