James “Jim” Van Camp II, of Plainwell, MI passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the age of 60. Jim was born on July 16, 1957 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the son of James Van Camp and Phyllis (Primm). Jim served in the United States Army. An avid fan of America’s history he could tell you just about everything you’d like to know. Jim loved to read and listen to music; also he was a huge Detroit Tigers fan. A true gentleman, he was always known for offering his handshake.

Jim is survived by his daughter Trisha (Saul) Skippers; father James Van Camp and mother Phyllis Tirine; sisters Lisa Van Camp, Kelli (Wes) Knapp, and Amy Van Camp; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-sisters and 1 step-brother; and 2 special cousins Denise and Debby. He is preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather; and step-mother Judy Van Camp.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10-11am, Life Story Funeral Home, 120 S. Woodhams, Plainwell (269-649-1697) to be followed by a memorial service at 11am. Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
