James J. "Jim" Halkowitz

James J. “Jim” Halkowitz, age 74, passed away at home on Thursday, February 16, 2017. James was born in Racine on June 16, 1942, son of the late Lester and Susan (nee: Cynak) Halkowitz.

On September 6, 1980 in Oxford, MD, Jim was united in marriage to Theresa “Terry” Knop. Still working, he has been employed with Hennes Services of Milwaukee for over thirty years. Jim was a member of the Racine Yacht Club and was passionate about sailing and fast cars.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of thirty six years, Terry; daughter, Amy (David) Higgins of Dearborn, MI; son, Matthew Halkowitz; grandchildren, Michael Higgins, Alex Higgins and Maliah Halkowitz; brothers, Wayne (Diane) Halkowitz, Lester John “LJ” Halkowitz of Little Rock, AR; mother-in-law, Bonne (the late Gerhardt "Gerry") Knop of Racine; brother-in-law, Todd (Sybil) Knop of Racine; nieces, Abby and Anna Knop; dear friend, Gene “Butch” Herman; other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Racine Yacht Club, 1 Barker Street, on Tuesday February 21, 2017 for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until a time of remembering service at 12:00 p.m. Memorials to the American Lung Association or one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
