Mr. Feenstra passed away Monday evening, July 11, 2005 at Plainwell Pines Nursing Home. He was born August 23, 1909 in Grand Rapids, the son of immigrants from the Netherlands, the late Rein and Effie (VanDyke) Feenstra. On October 1, 1936, Jacob married Elizabeth Hodde in Grand Rapids. Jake was raised and spent most of his life in western Michigan. He was a journeyman cabinet maker and did engineering work for Brunswick Corp. for over 35 years until his retirement in 1973. Jake and his family were transferred from Muskegon, MI to Marion, VA, to Kalamazoo, until his retirement. He was a life member of the Reformed Church and a current member of Second Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. Surviving are two sons, Roger (Sue) Feenstra of Haslett, and Jack (Virginia) Feenstra of Lancaster, PA; one daughter, Elaine (David) DeYoung; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rena Kramer of Lynchburg, VA, and Helen Nederveld of Grand Rapids. Preceding him in death are his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Feenstra on January 19, 2000; his parents; two sisters, Doris Huizenga and Margaret Lyzenga; and two brothers, John and Sam Feenstra. Funeral service for Mr. Feenstra will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Drive. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of services. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Second Reformed Church. The family is being served by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St.
