Loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully after a long and happy life on June 30th of this year at the age of 86. Most of her life was spent living in Michigan. Irene is survived by her husband, John "Jack", daughter, Anne (Mike) Saless and her grandchildren, Rachel and Christopher Saless and Daniel and Lauren Talbot. She is predeceased by her son, John Jr. She was born in Royal Oak, on July 16th, 1934 to William and Elvira (nee Sucaet) Rintz. There, she grew up with her late brother, William Jr. She attended Michigan State University, where she met her husband with whom she spent 61 wonderful married years. She graduated from the St. Joseph School of Radiology in Ann Arbor, and became an X-ray Technician to be employed by the UpJohn Company, in Portage, before retiring after 21 years of service. She and Jack, then retired to their lovely home at Grand Lake, Presque Isle. An avid cook, she designed her dream kitchen to bake her special cookies and pies for family and friends, always keeping spares for anyone who might drop by. She was the family self appointed "Social Director" always trying to find fun and interesting things to do when people visited. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren with whom she loved spending time with and helping them pay off their student loans Visitation Monday from 3-8pm at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Instate Tuesday from 9:30am until time of 10am Mass at St. Kieran Church, 53600 Mound Rd., Shelby Township, 48316 (Btw. 24 & 25 Mile Rd.). Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding SE, Ada, MI 49301 or Huron Humane Society, 3510 Woodward Ave, Alpena, MI 49707. Interment, White Chapel Cemetery.
