Ione Coburn

Coburn, Ione M. Ione M. Coburn, age 93, of Pavilion Township passed away September 27, 2022. She was born May 14, 1929 in Climax Township to the late Harland and Lula (Tyler) Piper. Ione was united in marriage to Henry Coburn in Climax on May 21, 1948 and became the ideal farmer's wife. Her career involved caring for the family farm, children and grandchildren, the home, and feeding her familySunday dinners being her favorite. Ione's family was her world. She is remembered for her selfless nature and the care she provided to all her children, grandchildren, and all others who crossed her path. Involvement in their sporting events was a major highlight of her life. She herself was inducted into the Climax-Scotts Athletic Hall of Fame. She maintained her active nature square dancing with her husband and bowling. She was also an active member of a local Farm Bureau group and enjoyed crocheting, camping, and bonfires at the family home. Ione was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Henry Coburn; four brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Lou (Jim) Wade of Climax, David (Sally) Coburn of Kalamazoo, Joel (Kim) Coburn of Scotts, Kenneth (Teresa) Coburn of Scotts, and Randy (Linda) Coburn of Climax; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn "Pete" (Phil) Oswalt; several nieces and nephews; as well as her caregiver, Kristi Riegel, who graciously gave her time and energy for the last seven years to build a lasting relationship with Ione and her familythe family extends a special thank you to her for the care she provided to Mom. The family will greet friends Monday, October 3 from 5-8:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 205 E Maple St, Climax, MI 49034. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 4 at 3:00pm at Prairie Baptist Church, 11210 E P Q Ave, Scotts, MI 49088. Interment will follow in Cook Cemetery.
