Ints A. "Andy" Austrins, age 76, of Plainwell, MI passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 in Bradenton, FL. Born in Latvia, Andy had been a snowbird for the last ten years finally making Florida his permanent home a few months ago. He proudly served for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, including having gone to Vietnam with the Marine Corps Air Wing as an avionics technician as well as having been stationed in 5 different states while serving. Following his Marine Corps retirement as a Master Sergeant (E8) Andy began his second career in the field of electronics working at Parker Hannefin for 25 years in Kalamazoo, Mi. retiring in 2006. Throughout his life Andy enjoyed doing many diverse activities such as camping, running marathons, biking, wood working, tennis, golf, travel, John Wayne movies, and fixing pretty much anything that was broken. Andy was known for his generosity, kindness and quirky sense of humor. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Marlene, daughter, Nicole (Jose) Austrins, son Eric (Kim); brother, Al (Nancy) Auseklis; sisters, Aija Kengis; Rita Austrins; Kristine Austrins, grandsons AJ and Ryan and granddaughter Gabriela. A committal ceremony with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association.
