Homer Cecil Lang of Kalamazoo passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the age of 94. Homer was born in South Haven on January 14, 1923, the son of the late Cecil M. Lang and Mildred (Wright) Lang. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was married to Martha Ellen (VanOosten) Lang on May 7, 1948 and she preceded him in death on June 8, 2002. He worked for Sutherland Company for twenty-six years and then for Sunset Bowling, where he retired. He was a member of Fourth Reformed Church. He enjoyed gardening and working on cars. Most of all, he enjoyed making peanut brittle at Christmas time with his late wife Martha. One year they made 200 tins that they gave to family and friends. He is survived by their children, Diana (Kim) Bonner, Yvonne (Jacob) DeHollander, Linda (Douglas) Merica and Terrie (Scott) Boven; four grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca (Chad), Jason, Brad (Anna) and Ashley (Taylor); six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Geiger. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Lang, Gus Lang, Betty Kozar, Lyle Lang, Wayne Lang and LeRoy Lang. Friends may visit with the family from 12 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral chapel, with interment to follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
